#NewRelease Spotlight: MASTER OF LOVE, by Anne Conley

Welcome to Mystic, Texas, where the past stays alive in more ways than one.

Tiffany Masters is desperate for a fresh start after the loss of her husband. Landing in Mystic, she soon learns the town has as many secrets as she does. The local book club, The Book B!tches, gives her the courage to be herself without worrying about adult things, like bills, parenting, and supper.

However, her new boss may be more than she can handle.

Nick takes pride in his business. Being the only bar owner in town has its challenges, the biggest being his new employee. Tiffany’s a fireball—sexy as hell, with a temper to match—and off-limits. She’s got kids; he’s been there, done that, didn’t care to get the t-shirt.

When their heated attraction sparks a spat, the sheriff gives them an ultimatum: settle their shit or go to jail. He’s got a crime to solve—a woman’s dead, Wren’s still missing, and there’s another possible victim.

Mystic may have a serial killer on the loose.

**This is not a standalone novel. It is recommended that Power of Love, Book B!tches #1 be read first.**

For a limited time only, all the books in this series are on sale for .99!!!

Every time she got pissed at Nick, she got horny for him, and that made no sense to her whatsoever.

“Bend over my desk.”

Tiffany spun around. “What? Why?” Even though it didn’t matter. She wanted whatever it was he had in mind. But the look on his face gave her pause. Maybe not. He looked really pissed.
Maybe he had the same damn reaction to her?

“I’m not sure, yet, Tiffany. I haven’t exactly decided what I want to do to you.” Nick gripped one hand into a fist and cracked his knuckles, but it wasn’t a move born of aggression. He was getting ready to use his hands, on her, and she was okay with that. His face was full of concentration, and the intensity shining from his gray, bottomless eyes bored straight into her insides and dived down into the depths of her pussy.

She was a mess, and he hadn’t even touched her yet.

“O-kay …” Tiffany whispered as she turned and did as he asked. A hiss of expelled air was the only discernable reaction.

“Close your eyes,” Nick demanded, and she obeyed without question. “Do you trust me?” His gravelly voice suddenly had an edge of uncertainty to it, much like the smile he’d displayed earlier. It was odd and threw her a little off balance.

But she answered with a firm “Yes.” Because she did. As mad as he made her, she loved the asshole. She could admit it to herself but no one else. She loved Nick Livingstone.

And she was sure he was about to do something to her no man would ever do again. He would touch her in some way that would pale in comparison to everyone else. Even Conrad.

Shit.

A soft cloth fell over her eyes, and Tiffany reached up to touch it. “Nope, baby girl. Keep your hands on the desk.” Tiffany opened her eyes to see Nick’s bandana—the one he kept in his pocket for a handkerchief—over her eyes like a blindfold.

Scenes from her BDSM books flew through her mind, and then it all made sense—Nick’s need for utter compliance and control, his anger when she didn’t do what he thought she should do for her own good, his protectiveness of her—as misguided as it was—his dominance in the bedroom.

Goose bumps broke out on her back.

“Is this a BDSM thing? Are you a Dominant?” Finally. Something was happening Tiffany sort of understood. Lord knows she had read tons of books about this.

A harsh laugh broke from his chest. “Fuck if I know, Tiff. I told you. You do this to me. Make me want to command your pleasure. And punish you when you don’t behave. Is that a Dom?” His fragmented sentences drew off into a rumble, and as he lowered himself over her back, she felt it radiate through her, vibrating her bones with his warmth.

She wanted to scream inside her head, Yes! But Doms care for their subs and fall in love with them. Even as the words formed in her mind, she knew it wouldn’t happen. He may take care of her, but he didn’t really care. He wasn’t in love with her.

But she managed a nod.

“Do you trust me? You still okay with this?”

Tiffany bit her lip, more to keep from screaming the word at him, and he pressed against her tightly until she answered with a whispered “Yes.”

“Good.”

Nick gripped her hips, tugging her this way and that. Tiffany couldn’t decide if he was straightening her, looking at her from different angles, or what. But when he lifted her skirt and let out that hiss again, she didn’t care; as long as this ended up in sex, she was totally cool with whatever he did. Anger and resolutions be damned.

His finger tickled her backside as it traced her thong, slipping underneath it and tugging on it before letting it go with a snap. Her turn to hiss. That stung.

“You don’t even know how sexy you are, do you?” His voice scared her in the most delicious way. It was still a rumble, bordering on a low roar. Like a fucking bear.

SMACK!

“Ow! Son of a bitch! That hurt!” His hands were rubbing the spot he’d just spanked, the fingers rubbing and digging into the flesh. Eventually, the stinging subsided, and Tiffany had to admit it was the shock of the slap that had scared her. Nothing actually hurt.

“Okay?” Nick’s soft voice soothed her and taunted her at the same time.

“Yes.” Tiffany sounded petulant and knew it as soon as the word left her mouth. For some reason, she wanted to apologize for her tone of voice, and wasn’t that just the shit?

SMACK!

Again with the rubbing and soothing, this time on her other ass cheek.

“What exactly am I being punished for?” The bratty tone was gone, and now she hated the fact she sounded so weak. The question came out like she was begging for something.

SMACK!

“You accepted a date with Matt the Douchebag.”

SMACK!

Another slap on her ass, and instead of rubbing it, he slapped the same spot again before soothing it with his massive hand. Her butt was getting warm, and damn if the wetness in her pussy had actually increased.

“You don’t actually like him, you’re just doing it to make me mad.” Another resounding SMACK!

She pressed back into his hand as he stroked her. “To get back at me for something you still haven’t told me about.”

What the hell? Who knew she liked spankings so much?

SMACK!

Tiffany moaned long and loud that time. She couldn’t stop the sound from coming out of her mouth.

“Seriously?” Nick’s question would have been comical if she wasn’t so turned on. His hands on her stilled and then traced the edge of her thong again before dipping down below, into her drenched folds. “Fuck. Me.”

My #NewRelease FRIEND ZONED is out now!

I’m so excited to share that my latest novel is now available! It’s very special to me because it’s the first contemporary romance I’ve ever written. As some of you may know, most of my books have been paranormal romance. But I got the itch to write something completely different, and this story is a result of NaNoWriMo a couple years ago. I love writing diverse books and trying to write outside the box. I fell in love with these characters. And I hope you do, too!

I give you …. FRIEND ZONED.

friend-zoned-ebookAll’s fair in love and war until one person gets stuck in an arranged marriage.

Catherine ‘Cat’ Marek has a sociology paper due on dissecting the laws of attraction. Project Panty Drop will case study two different men; one she’ll go after in person and the other she’ll attempt to charm online. Hiding behind her beauty, she tries to cover up her true geeky side, and the fact that she’s partially deaf.

Jaidev ‘Jai’ Sankar needs to knock out a paper for his online sociology class. After an encounter with the Texas Tease, Cat Marek, he decides Project Friend Zoned will be the ultimate topic, proving a guy can remain in the friend zone with a girl he finds attractive.

As Cat puts the moves into overdrive, Jai finds it harder to remain in the ‘friend zone’ with her. The only thing keeping him from letting go is the fact his hardcore Hindu parents have a wedding scheduled for him. When neither can resist their attraction, the fight no longer becomes about their papers, but about the freedom to love each other.

excerpt

Her face haunted me. The adorable dimple pitted in her cheek caught my eye first. Sexy full lips that folded into a gorgeous smile just about took my breath away. I did my best not to continuously stare at her, managing to throw just a few glances here and there hoping she got the message. But she didn’t take the bait. Instead, she gave me a ‘too good for you’ glance while she plowed down a server on her way to the bathroom, probably to restock the toilet paper in her bra.

The Texas Tease, I called it. Lots of girls at UT had it—this one in particular—in spades. Shorter than my normal tastes, her alluring doe-eyes caught me off guard. The memory of her petite frame sashaying as she worked those sexy, black pumps played on a loop in my head. Along with the way her long, brown hair bounced with every step like a damn shampoo commercial.

She drove me insane, and I didn’t even know her name. At least Mick confirmed she was a student at UT, apparently in one of his Economics classes.

She intrigued me, sitting in a sports bar drinking beer while her prissy friend sipped wine. I even caught her glancing at the Longhorn game on the big screen. A cute girl who likes beer and football? Every guy’s dream. If only she weren’t a snob. But, I’d put her in her place. And I had the perfect plan.

The ring of my Skype alert disrupted my plotting. Incoming message from Kanti, my best friend.

Kanti: Hey …

                                                    Me: What’s up, brat?

Kanti: You busy?

Me: Never too busy for you.

Kanti: Stop with the sugar, you’re giving

me diabetes.

Me: LOL Better get used to it.

Kanti: Ugh. Don’t remind me. Quick, what

do you want for your birthday? You got the

new Mortal Kombat release already?

Me: Yeah, of course I do. But you don’t

have to get me anything. You know that.

Kanti: I can’t NOT get you anything.

Me: Tell me you talked to your parents and

the wedding’s called off. That would be an

awesome present.

Kanti: Seriously? You know that isn’t even

in the realm of possibilities. So shut it.

                                                        Me: I can dream, can’t I?

Kanti: Yeah, and I know what you do in

those dreams. Not even going there.

Me: You’re such a bitch. Why do I love you?

Kanti: Because we’re best friends.

                                                          Me: Well, there’s that.

Mick yelled through the door. “Jai, you comin’ down or what?”

“In a minute,” I replied.

Me: I gotta go. Kegger tonight and we’re

hosting.

Kanti: Email me and let me know what to

get you.

                                                           Me: Fine.

Kanti: LOL Kiss Kiss

                                                           Me: Whatever. LOL TTYL

I closed the lid on my laptop as Mick flung the door open.

“People are starting to arrive. You’re on keg duty first.”

I tossed him a nod. “Yeah, I know. I’m coming. Just finishing up some notes on my Sociology project.”

“I thought you dropped that class?” He folded his arms, leaning against the door-frame.

“I was going to until Professor Wilkinson agreed to let me take it online, since it’s the same time as my cinematography course.” I pulled out a notepad. “What’d you say that chick’s name was again? The one we saw at the bar today.”

“Catherine Marek. But I think she goes by Cat.” Mick shrugged. “Why? I thought you said she was a snob, and you weren’t gonna pursue her?”

“Oh, I’m not. I got my sights set on another girl I’ve been talking to for a little while. But I think that Cat chick will make for a perfect target on my sociology paper.” I wrote down her name and underlined it five times. “I’m calling it, Friend Zoned.”

Mick laughed. “Oh, this ought to be good. What’re you gonna do?”

“It’s what I’m not gonna do that’s going be the best part. I’m going to act like I’m interested, then when she takes the bait, I’ll friend zone her. I’m going to prove that a guy can be sexually attracted to a girl who’s interested in him and still remain only friends. I’ll be the best ‘friend’ she’s ever gonna have.”

Excerpt:
Wiping the crumbs off his jeans, Finn reached into his
backpack and threw an apple at me, which I caught with a deft hand.
            “Nice
catch,” he said, grinning.
            I
flung the apple up into the air and caught it in my other hand. “I played third
base. Little League.”
            “You
mean baseball?”
            I
nodded.
            “Never
seen a game myself.”
            I
gaped at Finn. “You mean you live in Chicago, and you’ve never been to a Cubs
game?”
            He
shrugged. “Not interested.” Finn’s eyes lit up, and he shoved me playfully with
his shoulder. “Now hurling. That’s a
good game.”

“Well, they’re totally
different. That’s not even a fair comparison,” I said with a sniff.

“Fair enough,” Finn said,
wistful. “Really, nothing can compare
with hurling.”

            I
laughed. “Moiré tried to explain the rules to me once, but she lost me after
hurley stick.”
            “Oh,
it’s simple, really.” Finn jumped down and rummaged around the rubble until he
found a large branch. He swung it, the stick cutting through the air, slowly at
first, but then with more force. Finn’s chest muscles rippled between the flaps
of his leather jacket, and my blood pulsed in my ears at the sight of him,
dancing from foot to foot as he practiced his swing.
            “Now
the point of hurling,” Finn began, “is to use this stick, the hurley stick.” He
raised the old branch in the air. “To get a little ball called a sliotar either over or under your
opponent’s goalpost.” Finn picked up a handful of small rocks and, using his
“hurley,” sent a pebble whizzing over the stone wall, inches from my head.
            “Hey,
watch it!”
            Finn
smiled up at me. “You with me so far?”
            I
nodded.
            “Now,”
Finn said. “If the ball flies under the goalpost into the net, it’s worth three
points.” Finn sent another pebble skittering against the wall, right next to my
boot. “But you have to get it past the keeper, and that can be a challenge.”
His eyes glittered at me as he swung his stick again. He threw a rock up in the
air and with a loud thwack sent it
zooming over the wall. I held out my hand and caught the stone, the look on
Finn’s face making up for the sting of impact.
            “And
he’s out!” I cried, jumping off the wall and doing a mock victory dance. “Cubs
win!  Cubs win! Wooooooooooooo!”
            Finn
stalked over to me and grabbed my fist. “Will you settle down!” he said,
attempting to pry the pebble from my grip. “I’m trying to teach you a
three-thousand-year-old art form and you’re nattering on about the fecking
Cubs.”
            I
giggled, snatching his hurley stick from his hands.
            “Technical
foul!” Finn barked behind me, but I sprinted away, swinging the hurley over my
head as I climbed the wall.
            “Get
back here, you brat!” Finn bolted after me so quickly, he lost his footing on
the stone wall and tumbled to the ground.
I laughed as he came to his feet, his hair loose, chasing me.
“It’s the bottom of the ninth, bases are
loaded!”
            Finn
made a snatch for the stick, but I feigned to the right.

“Tanner’s up to bat.” I climbed a set of old stairs to nowhere and tossed up
the stone. I popped out my hips and, following through on the turn, sent the
stone flying over the hill and down the cliffs below. I jumped down, swinging
my baseball/hurley bat. “Homerun by Tanner! And the Cubs win the pennant!”

            Finn
smacked into me, and I collapsed to the ground, his wide body over mine as he
grasped for the stick.
            “Dammit,
O’Connell!” I gasped beneath Finn, his whole weight crushing my chest.  “Now I know
for a fact hurling is not a contact
sport!” I laughed as I squirmed to get away, holding out the stick just beyond
his reach.
            “Neither
is baseball!”

With a devilish grin, Finn
tickled my armpit, and I curled up in a fit of giggles. He made a grab for my
wrist, pinning me to the ground, and his gray eyes danced as he looked down at
me. My laughter faded, and running my other hand through his hair, I pulled his
face to mine. He kissed me, a low moan rumbling deep in his throat.

            Finn
nipped my bottom lip with his teeth, and my back arched as our hips melded
together, my better judgment forgotten. He slid his arm beneath my shoulders
and pulled me close against him, kissing me long and hard, and I gasped,
gulping for air as he lowered his mouth to my neck.

#NewRelease Spotlight: RULER’S CONCUBINE, by Peri Elizabeth Scott

Thank you for having me! Ruler’s Concubine represents two different species attempting a connection, and proves that regardless of distinct differences, love will carry the day.
Title of book:  Ruler’s Concubine by Peri Elizabeth Scott
Publisher: Evernight Publishing

Released: September 2, 2016

Word Count: 66,204

Blurb:
Meridia is headed for extinction, unless a compatible species can be found. The backward planet, Earth, the one the Meridians stripped of technology now holds the only promising species in the Galaxy. As Ruler, Lysett Daboort will do his duty and choose a royal concubine from those women ‘liberated’ from Earth, but that is all it will be—until he meets Celeste Raynor.
Celeste is barely subsisting on Earth and isn’t enamored with becoming one of Meridia’s concubines, despite the esteem afforded their females. But there is nothing left for her at home and she isn’t averse to having a child to love, not to mention a caring, supportive partner. Until she meets the Ruler himself.
The Ruler resists Celeste’s appeal and she refuses his arrogant approach, yet they must somehow come to terms. Lysett rules supreme, or does he? Because love has the most power of all.

Excerpt:
This isn’t happening. This is not happening. If she kept repeating those words then surely it would be true and she’d miraculously wake up from this erotic nightmare and in her own bed. Except it wasn’t a nightmare and she most certainly wasn’t in her assigned bed—or even on her own planet. Although her imagination was fertile—and she’d seen pictures of him—it was unlikely to manifest the enormously good looks and incredible physique of the alien male who was stripping right before her very eyes. Yes, stripping. Removing all of his clothes, not five feet from where she lay on a bed constructed of some otherworldly material that both cushioned and restrained her. Had it only been yesterday when Bast told her today would be the day? No wonder she hadn’t slept well, thinking about this. And why did this Ruler look even better in person?
Once he’d overcome his reticence to speak so frankly with her, Bast had prepared her with stories of his Master’s need, of his sexual prowess and all the pleasures he would bestow, not to mention that cup of elixir she’d swallowed down.
Being assured it was the planet’s best aphrodisiac had her quaffing the liquid as though it were a life saver. Its effects were marked almost immediately as she cataloged an increase in her body temperature and a definite aching in her private parts with embarrassingly obvious lubrication accompanying the throbbing. Even her breasts had ached, the nipples tightening and beading in reaction to the potion.
But the effect had worn off because Lysett had been detained for a considerable period. The delay had given her too much time to reflect on her decision and the strange glowing feelings throughout her body had diminished—until he walked through the door. His good looks stole her breath, and when he began to take his clothes off, she wanted to do shocking, sexual things with him. The emotional and physical swings made her stomach lurch.
Her uninfluenced sexual-self recognized the potency of such a male, and to say she wasn’t naturally aroused would be untrue. Her body acknowledged a male suited to her, awash with chemistry and basic animal instinct. It was simply the circumstances that brought her here, and the stark implications of the contract that spoiled their first interaction. Why hadn’t he deviated from so-called royal tradition and spent some time with her beforehand? Surely Bast had relayed that even an initial chat would be optimum.
Celeste’s heart rate doubled, then tripled, when Lysett’s erection sprang forth as his lower garments were yanked down, and dark spots swam in her vision. That part of him was a duskier gold than the rest of his burnished skin, and freaking huge.
“Shhh, Lady.” Bast’s caramel tones spoke soothingly in her right ear, and one of his hands tentatively patted her shoulder. She’d very nearly forgotten he was still in the room with her—with her and his Master, although he had handled the process clinically and indicated he would leave before… “You are prepared for this union, as we discussed. It will be over before you know it, and if you get with offspring this first time, there will be no need for further joinings. Unless you wish them. And to beget other children.”
Well, didn’t that make her feel special? No pressure either. Merely a vessel out here in space, far away from home, to be used. She blinked away the tears that welled in reaction. Where was her voice? She could still say no…
The Ruler paused in his approach to the bed and glared at Bast after he spoke, though that look encompassed her as well. Celeste had never felt so naked—or so vulnerable. She knew what was supposed to happen. She thought she was ready. Not. And to think she’d scoffed at the wait, chuckled about others procreating before this man. No one would dare. Shocking need warred with apprehension.
“You assured me she was prepared, Bast.” Lysett’s perfect features set in angry lines and those remarkable green eyes now appeared as cold and frozen as that small pond at her home place in the winter months. She tried to use the memory of Earth to distract her, and it caused a homesick shudder to take over her entire body, the gentle clasp of the bed’s fabric undulating to keep her in place.
Lysett’s attention snapped fully to her in an instant, his orbs now glowing with green fire as the vertical slash of his pupils elongated. His gaze raked her body, lingering on her breasts and the apex of her thighs. Despite her limited experience with men, let alone alien men, Celeste recognized lust and desire and her body responded. Or maybe it was apprehension.
“She is prepared, Master. I do assure you. It is merely that a period of time has passed since we expected you to attend her, and it is no surprise that your concubine is experiencing a trifle of anxiety.”
Even with the translator chip, Bast’s wording felt off to her, and she decided to add her own voice. This was going to happen, this attending to her, no matter how she second-guessed her decision, and she believed Bast when he promised she’d be safe here. Having sex—joining—with his Master until she conceived was something she could do. Women did it all the time, had done it over the eons. It wasn’t like she was being forced or anything. And she wasn’t a prostitute, although that profession got a bad rap as far as she was concerned when one considered women had to survive somehow.
She was, according to the contract, a revered commodity, a virgin concubine—who wasn’t going to be a virgin much longer—a concubine who would bear a child for the alien ruler, right? And if the baby was female, she too would be cherished and Lysett would try again to beget a son. And again… All of Bast’s teachings slipped through her brain with lightning speed. Celeste shivered and quit thinking about all those possibilities and focused on what she’d been promised.
She would want for nothing, be well taken care of, and ultimately, kept safe. The presenter’s words and those of Bast rattled around in her head. Given her past circumstances, it was a no-brainer, and she couldn’t go home. Her body was up for it, and her mind had accepted it was the best out of all her choices. So it must be her heart throwing up the roadblock, looking for romance, all because of his pictures and the wonderful things his first servant had said about him.
That was nonsense. Just look at the agony love caused a person. Her stupid heart must be masochistic. This was the best deal she’d get and it was time she said something. There was no way she could go through this process again. Humiliation drowned her common sense. She moistened her lips and addressed Lysett, who was busily engaged in a staring contest with Bast.
“I am prepared, sir. Sir. Ruler. I won’t give you any trouble.”
His eyes froze through to their depths again and his dark brows drew together. She noted his erection didn’t flag at all, though. He might be annoyed, but it didn’t affect his arousal. The wide head glistened in the well-lit chamber, with his natural lubricant beading at the tiny slit. She had timidly asked if her deflowering couldn’t take place in the dark, but Bast refused, saying that tradition didn’t allow it. Spread eagle as she was, there was little left to the imagination, and she flushed again with embarrassment and no small shame. Lysett was superbly made, muscled and lean, with broad shoulders, long thick legs, and narrow hips. She was … well, she was short, and small and round, now that she’d had enough to eat. So not like the remaining Meridian females on this planet. And certainly not the cream of the crop of the human females either.
“You were not given leave to speak.”
Celeste didn’t much care for the way he snarled at her, Ruler or not.
