ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Andrew Hess, New York’s King of Cliffhangers, found his love of writing while studying psychology at SUNY New Paltz. His debut book, Chamber of Souls (2011), depicted the life of a broken man wallowing in self pity. Using free verse poetry, he brought his character to life while journeying to find himself.

Hess picked up his first cliffhanger credit in 2013 with The Phoenix Blade Series (winner of Best Series Award in 2014 by Indie Author Books). The Phoenix Blade showcased a group of vigilante 20 year olds hired by the government to rid the country of the men and women who have evaded justice.

Hess continued his route down the path of mystery and suspense with the Detective Ryan Series, the Detective Thornton Series, and #1 Fan, which earned him the moniker King of Cliffhangers by several readers including the Fire & Ice Book Reviews.

Andrew won Indie Author Books: Best Mystery Thriller Author (2015), and Indie Author Books Series of the Year (2014) for The Phoenix Blade.

Andrew has been nominated for Best Male Author, Best Mystery Suspense Author, Book of the Year, and Best Mystery Book (2015) for Campus Killer By Wickedly Devine Divas, The Three Bookateers, & SNSBAH Promotions.

Title: THE FOX AND THE HOUND

(A Special Forces: Operation Alpha Kindle World Novella)

Author: Wren Michaels

Release Date: November 22, 2016

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Jayla “Fox” McFadden ‘MacGyvered her way through college and right onto the radar of the CIA. Instead of getting busted, she got offered a job. She’s a chemist by day, but moonlights on special missions utilizing her unique talents when needed, everything from bomb building to booby traps. She’s fought tooth and black-polished nail to make her way in the world and prove she’s more than a set of tits. From her thick, black eyeliner to her Doc Martens with leather mini-skirts, she stands out, and likes it that way.

Noah “Hound” Kendrick is the best tracker on his SEAL team. Haunted by the fact that he got his mother killed, he put his body, mind, and soul into the SEALs in retribution, trying to make the world a better place. They are his duty and family now, nothing gets in the way. Especially love, as he refuses to open up his heart and lose someone at his expense ever again.

Jayla’s latest mission is to retrieve a list of buyers from an arms dealer. She’s teamed with the SEALs who must take out a bunker hidden offshore near the dealer’s private island. But a squall line from an impending hurricane throws off their plans as Jayla and Noah get separated from the team, washing up on a deserted air force base in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Now the Fox and the Hound must survive the elements and each other, as they ride out the physical and emotional storm heading their way.

Jayla gripped her beer so hard her knuckles turned white. She fully intended on flirting for some fun at the party, but she didn’t expect anything to come of it. While SEALs were pretty to look at, they had a notorious rep for quick romps and even quicker exits. She refused to be a notch on a bedpost.

But her plans nosedived the minute she laid eyes on that Hound guy. Her head screamed at her to run far, far away. Her vadge yelled louder, forcing her to picture him with a lot less clothing involved. Damn his taunting forearm porn. Sinewy muscles flexed every time he took a drink of his beer. She ached to lick the plump lips framed by his stark jawline, with a chin that stuck out just a hair too far, yet it seemed a perfect fit on his asymmetrical face. Add in his big, broody forehead and she was done for.

His deep brown eyes locked onto her own, holding her in a staring match. The intensity in them freaked her out a little. A sure fire sign that when this guy wanted something, he’d let nothing get in his way. She broke their gaze and focused her attention on his short, dark brown hair, finding a pair of fancy-ass sunglasses sitting on top like some hot-shot movie star.

Find something annoying about him, Jayla, it’ll be easier to diffuse the situation and walk away. And make it quick before you do something really stupid, like give him a lap dance on the cooler.

She glanced at some movement behind him only to find another SEAL headed her way, wearing a shit-eating grin with fuck-me eyes. Definite womanizing material. A pretty boy, with the bed count to match probably. Shit.

She focused back on Noah as she summed up her options. Plan A—exit the party early. Or Plan B…which was still a work in progress. Since Melinda drove them both to the party, she was stuck. Plan B it would have to be. Regret already toiled in her gut at the thought.

“Kiss me,” she whispered, not believing the words actually made it out of her head.

Noah blinked. “Say what?”

“Are you sure you’re not deaf?” She sucked in a deep breath and launched herself at his lips.

He stumbled backward before wrapping one arm around her waist, keeping their balance. Jayla dropped her bottle behind him and slid her hands along his neck, taut with muscle and sun-kissed warmth. A twinge of excitement hit her belly as their lips met. For a shocked moment his mouth froze, before his lips slanted and welcomed her.

His cologne hit her nose, sending another frisson of adrenaline through her. He curled his fingers into her back. “What are you doing?” he mouthed against the kiss.

“Just go with it, okay?” she whispered back, still pressed to his mouth.

“Fine.” His lips curled into a smile and his other arm snaked around her, dipping her backwards as he deepened the kiss, sliding his tongue past her lips.

Jayla’s heart plunged to her stomach, an impressive feat considering she now hung upside down in Noah’s arms. His tongue swept away all thoughts as he explored her mouth with the fervor of a hormonal teenager, but far better technique. Her hands that once held the warmth of his neck now clung to his thick biceps for dear life, curling her nails into his skin. That was going to leave a mark.

“What are you doing?” she groaned into the kiss.

His lips vibrated against hers as he chuckled. “Going with it.”

#NewRelease Spotlight: HEART IN CHAINS, by Elodie Parkes

Heart in Chains, Elodie Parkes, Encompass Ink, April 23,
2016 release
MM erotic romance/ suspense
I so enjoyed writing ‘Heart in Chains’. I’d just written, MM
romance, ‘A Forever Kind of Thing’ for an Encompass Ink anthology to be
released later this year and I was still in MM story writing mode.
Connor and Jay my heroes just gelled in my mind immediately
as I considered the kind of adventure Connor might have on vacation in an
exotic place such as Indonesia. Jay is a mysterious character, tough, driven, but
on the verge of changing his dangerous life when he meets Connor. Connor is
still getting over a relationship break up, but it’s been long enough and he’s
tired of being single. His former boyfriend’s betrayal stays with him, but as
soon as he sees Jay, attraction is seeded in his heart.
These two characters are dear to me. Tenderness lies beneath
Jay’s composed and tough exterior and courage lies beneath Connor’s sexual
vulnerability. I think both will surprise you as you read their story.

When Connor Douglas
takes a tropical island holiday, he hopes to leave heartbreak behind. Little
does he know the extent of the danger and sexual temptation that awaits him.
Long after Jay
Levesque has closed down his operations on the very same tropical island, the
memory of Connor haunts him.
Warm nights and
scorching sex has someone’s heart in chains.
Read a teaser:
Darkness was falling as Jay arrived back with another man.
They carried a tray each and the other man carried a stool. The other man left,
but Jay smiled at Connor as he waited by the bed. Jay flipped a switch on the
wall by the door and lit the place. Light streamed downward from the little
white coolie-hat shade.
“Come, let’s eat.” He indicated the chair and sat on the
stool himself.
Connor dragged his chain as he went to the table. He sat and
took the cover off the plate of food. It looked good and the fish was already
cut up, which was great since there was no knife, only a fork by his plate. He
didn’t expect to be hungry, but after tasting the food, he ate almost all of it
before he put down his fork and gave a sigh.
Jay ate slowly. When Connor stopped eating so did he and he
placed his fork on the tray.
“It’s good to see you eat. Kiku, the man who brought the
food with me, is going to bring coffee. Tell me about yourself.”
Connor turned to face Jay. He felt better after eating. “I
don’t get it. Why do you want to know? Why are you being kind?”
Jay frowned. “There’s no need not to be kind. Humor me. Tell
me a little about yourself.”
Connor shrugged. “I’m a marine biologist. I’m on vacation. I
needed something completely different in my life for a time. These islands
seemed like a good idea, far away, warm, beautiful, and …” He stopped talking. What’s the point in this?
Jay pushed his dark hair back from his forehead and folded
his arms. He smiled.
“Far away. From what, Connor? A love affair gone wrong I
think.”
Connor looked down at the remains of his food in confusion.
Did he really want to tell his captor about his heartbreak?
“Not that it’s anything to do with you, but yes … I guess.”
Before Connor could react or even know what was happening,
Jay reached out a hand and slipped it around Connor’s head. He swooped on
Connor’s mouth and kissed him.
The kiss was so unexpected and yet so delicious, Connor
closed his eyes and let it happen. He drifted in the soft merge of Jay’s lips
on his. The lingering pressure and the way Jay brought his other hand up to
caress the back of Connor’s neck was addictive. Connor leaned into the embrace.
His cock hardened. Tingles from the circle of Jay’s fingertips on his neck
spread down his spine and made his ass feel melted. Thoughts left him. The only
thing that mattered right then was the kiss, and he lifted his hands to hold
Jay’s muscled shoulders and kiss him in return.
It was Jay who drew away from the kiss.
Connor leaned back in his chair then, shocked at his
response.

#NewRelease Spotlight: GRAB, by Anne Conley @anneconley10 #GRABit #HotReads #BABB

Jordan Rocco has just received a medical discharge from the Marines and is now working with his brother, Evan, at Pierce Securities. He’s struggling to find his place among these men who have a brotherhood that doesn’t seem to include him. Jordan’s only saving grace is the woman across the hall in his apartment building, with her smart mouth and tight curves.

Mia is wholly focused on making enough money at her crappy job to bring her sister home to live with her, instead of globe-trotting with her mother and the latest in a long line of losers. A boyfriend is not in the cards. But a couple of nights with the hottie across the hallway—to release some pent-up frustrations—wouldn’t be remiss. When she’s grabbed from her apartment in the night, Jordan witnesses the crime, helpless to stop things.

He’s suddenly got a new mission: Before the worst can happen, he has to save the woman who has come to mean more to him than he realized.

***WARNING*** This book has a vague description of events that may cause triggers.
“Hey there, Jordan.  Rough day?”
He shrugged, turning to face her.  She was a hottie, but totally tired.  Dark circles etched around her eyes made the lines around her mouth more pronounced.   “I just hate my job.  That’s all.  No biggie.”
Rueful laughter met his ears.  “Who doesn’t?  Tequila?”  She held up a half-empty bottle they’d started the other night, and shook it.
“Sure, what the hell.  But not much.  You need to get some sleep.”  Closing his door behind him, he took the two steps across the hall to her room.  She waited tables at a diner a few blocks away, all the time.
“You trying to say I look like ass?”  As she stepped aside to let him in, Jordan tried not to brush against her pajama clad body, nor notice the fact all she wore was shorty shorts and a camisole, all in thin thread-bare cotton.  Nearly see-through.  Every curve on display.
No attachments.  But that didn’t mean sex was off the table, as long as she understood the stakes.  Or his lack of desire for stakes.
“No, you look fine, but that set of luggage you’re wearing under your eyes could use some leather oil,” he tried to joke, but felt bad immediately when he saw her stricken face.  “Hey, wait.  I was kidding.  Don’t get all mad.  How long has it been since you had a day off?”  She waited tables every damn day, as far as he could tell.
She shrugged as she got shot glasses down from the cabinet in the kitchenette.  “Two weeks, or three.  Not sure.  Had a double today, that’s why I’m so tired.”  The house had been busted into four tiny apartments, each one a small living room with an attached kitchen.  So when Mia turned around, Jordan was there, bumping into her.
“Then let me wait on you for a change,” he whispered.  He watched the pulse on her neck pound rapidly, and her breasts heave with heavier breaths.  That was good.  So she wouldn’t be opposed to sex.  He hadn’t thought so, but affirmation was nice.  “Salt?”
She nodded, reaching behind her to grab the shaker, and handed it to him, wordless, enormous brown eyes tracking his movements.  Mia’s shoulder and neck were calling out to him, that smooth expanse of bronzed skin was so beautiful.  Just to test something, Jordan lowered his head, and suckled there, leaving a small kiss behind.
Her sharp inhale was accompanied by her fingers immediately clamping down on the countertop.  Good.
Swiping his tongue across her shoulder, he left a long wet trail that he sprinkled salt across.  “I like you, Mia,” he began.  He needed to get everything out up front.  “I think we could have some fun, don’t you?”  She nodded, looking at him from half-closed eyes.  Sexy fucking eyes.  Eyes that told him to fuck her right now.  But he wasn’t going to do it like that.  Not tonight.  “Good.  Because neither of us has time for strings, right?”  He was looking at her, really close, but he wasn’t touching her, just looking.
“You want to have sex, right?  No relationships?” she breathed.  “I’m totally down with that.”  She gasped the words out at him, and he mentally high fived himself before swiping his tongue across the line of salt, tasting her shoulder with relish before swigging straight from the bottle of tequila.
When he went in for a kiss, she stopped him with a finger on his lips.  “You did it wrong, hot shot.”
That was one of the things he really liked about Mia.  She was cool.  Almost like one of the guys, only she had tits and a pussy, and an ass men would die for.  And Jordan had an erection that would jackhammer concrete, and she was telling him he was doing it wrong?
Yeah, she was golden at getting his mind off his shitty job.
Smirking now, he took a step back, hands up.  “Teach it, oh mighty one.”
