#NewRelease Spotlight: OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS, by L.D. Blakeley @LDBlakeley

A million thanks for having me on your blog to talk about Opportunity Knocks! This release means so much to me since, not only is it the first novel in my Laissez Faire series, it’s actually my FIRST novel (why start small with a standalone, when you can jump right in with a series, right?).

The Laissez Faire, itself, was inspired by an actual music and art festival that takes place in Northern Ontario each summer; and my main characters, Gill and Tommy, are based on two lads I encountered at said festival. When the fictional versions of these two sprang to life in my head, they brought friends, family, and roommates along with them and I knew from the very beginning that Tommy & Gill’s story wasn’t the only one that needed to be told.

I hope people enjoy reading their tale as much as I had writing it.

Small-town security guard, Gill Martin, has lived in Mystique Pointe his entire life. His dating prospects are non-existent and he doesn’t particularly like his job, but at least it’s better than unemployment. Besides, he hasn’t got any better ideas.

Big-city artist, Tommy Hearne, knows exactly what he wants out of life: a successful art career and a successful relationship. He also knows that living in Liberty City is his best chance for pursuing both. Unfortunately, for him, neither of these pursuits seem to be panning out quite to his liking.

When Tommy and his misfit band of friends roll into town for the Laissez Faire, Mystique Pointe’s annual music & art festival, worlds definitely collide. A fiery tryst sparks more than just a lust connection, but what happens when the weekend is over?

Excerpt

Tommy followed closely behind Gill as they made their way out to the parking lot. He did a quick head count and realized that there were only five of them and that lap-sitting wasn’t going to be on the menu after all. But when Kat took out her keys to trigger the unlock remote and Tommy saw the responding lights on a tiny Fiat 500, he almost cheered. There was barely room for two grown men in the back seat. Good thing he was willing to make the sacrifice and let the others ride in comfort.

Amy, why don’t you sit up front?” Kat had opened the driver-side door and was about to climb in when she added, “You can pull the seat forward and let the two leggy boys have a bit more room. Sorry, Tommy—looks like you’re gonna have to squeeze in on top.”

Tommy had never been so happy to be the short man out. He waited to see which side of the car Alec chose, and made sure he was at the opposite door. And when Gill climbed in, his T-shirt rucked up slightly, giving Tommy the most delicious glimpse of skin above the most perfect denim-clad bubble butt he’d ever seen. Oh, thank goodness for well-lit parking lots.

You getting in?” Gill had an expression on his face Tommy was unable to read. Although, if it they’d been working with a bit more than car lot lights, he was sure he’d be able to see another blush staining that handsome face.

Poking his head inside the car, he carefully leaned across Gill’s lap and braced himself on Alec’s leg before climbing in entirely and sitting carefully on top of Gill. There really wasn’t a lot of room in Kat’s car. Despite only being five-foot-eight, Tommy still had to keep his head ducked down to avoid bashing his skull against the roof. He also used it as more excuse to snuggle down closer to Gill. But, hey—not my fault the girl drives a Fiat!

Sorry it’s such close quarters guys. The car was a graduation gift from my grandparents. I wouldn’t have picked it, but who says no to a free car, right?” Kat caught Tommy’s eye in the rearview mirror and winked. Yeah. Definitely not his girlfriend. Tommy didn’t get the feeling she was upset about his crawling all over Gill. Potential matchmaker, maybe? “Luckily the campground isn’t that far, so you won’t have to suffer long.”

I don’t mind. Really.” Tommy wriggled slightly and rested his fingers at the back of Gill’s neck. It couldn’t be classed as a grope. He still wasn’t a hundred percent sure if that would even be welcomed. But it was a touch, and a delicate one at that. And it was enough for Tommy to feel the shiver that it elicited from Gill.

Sorry, Gill. Hope I’m not crushing you.”

Oh. No. You’re fine.” Gill’s voice was low and slightly hitched. His glasses had started to creep down his nose and Tommy reached up, without thinking, to adjust them.

Don’t want to lose those.” They were so close that, had it been a colder night, Tommy’s breath would have fogged Gill’s lenses. And, fuck, didn’t that send indecent thoughts straight to his groin. Images of fogging up the car windows with Gill or, to be precise, images of what they might be doing in order to cause said situation, sent a message straight to Tommy’s dick. He fidgeted slightly, not wanting to reach down and adjust the hard-on he’d hoped he could keep at bay.

He was about to fidget again when the sound of Gill clearing his throat distracted him slightly from the problem at hand. And alerted him to another. Of course, describing the feeling of Gill’s answering erection under his ass as a problem couldn’t have been further from wrong. Gloriously, heroically magnificent, perhaps. But not a problem.

Tommy turned slightly to make eye contact with Gill but found the other man uncomfortably looking in the other direction. He twisted slightly, making sure his ass did a slow grind into Gill’s crotch as he did so. Yep. That got his attention.

Excerpt

Captain Hugh Wilkes drummed enthusiastically on the steering wheel of his car as he drove it up the M3 towards London. He sung loudly and tunelessly along to the song on the radio, too, but it didn’t matter. No one could hear him.

He’d surprised himself by being so chilled out about the volume of Friday evening traffic. He wasn’t the most patient of people, so the slow progress should probably have been increasing his blood pressure, if not leading to full on road rage. But, although he’d have loved to be actually achieving the speed limit, not bumbling along at a mere fifty miles per hour, Wilkes was just glad the traffic was moving at all. Britain’s roads, the motorways in particular, soon came to a standstill if there was so much as a tiny bump between two vehicles. So any progress was better than none.

Besides, what could he do about it? His only other options to get to London from his base in Wiltshire were a train, or stealing a plane, helicopter or tank. The latter might just cause a little bit of bother, and mean the end of his army career, not to mention criminal charges. The former meant cramming in amongst sweaty, disgruntled commuters. If that wasn’t bad enough, he’d be charged an extortionate amount to do so, probably wouldn’t even get a seat, and would likely be subjected to delays.

At least driving took him from door to door, with plenty of personal space. And if there were delays, well, he could sit them out from the comfort of his own vehicle, with the climate control set to the perfect temperature, and the radio blasting some of his favourite tunes.

The next song was even better, and Wilkes’ tuneless wailing became more enthusiastic, as did the drumming on the steering wheel. He was in one hell of a good mood, and if he was truthful with himself, he knew it wasn’t just the fact the M3 was moving at a nice pace. It wasn’t the Friday feeling, either. Sure, both of those things were contributing to his happiness, but the main reason he was grinning like a buffoon was the thought of what awaited him in the capital. Or rather, who.

Rustam Balkhi. His gorgeous Afghan boyfriend, whom he’d met out in Afghanistan while they were working together for the British Army. Now, with their tour of duty over and the forces’ presence pulled out of the country, the two men had returned to England. Wilkes had gone back to his regular army life in Bulford Camp, near Salisbury. Balkhi was in London, where he’d recommenced the medical training he’d postponed to become an interpreter for the Brits.

The past few weeks had been somewhat of a whirlwind. Wilkes’ return to the UK had been straightforward, but Balkhi had had to jump through some hoops in order to get back onto his medical course. He’d been willing to start from scratch, but it’d seemed like an awful waste of time, so Wilkes had spoken to his superiors, who’d explained to the university what important work Balkhi had been doing. Fortunately, they’d been persuaded of Balkhi’s commitment and character, and allowed him to pick up where he’d left off. That settled, Balkhi had to pack up, travel back to the UK, find somewhere to live, move in… and all before the start of the next academic term.

Wilkes had felt terrible. His return had taken place a few weeks before Balkhi’s, so although he’d been granted some leave for R&R, he hadn’t been able to either spend it with Balkhi, or to use it help him with his relocation. By the time Balkhi had set foot on British soil, Wilkes was back to work. And, given nobody knew about the two of them, or even that Wilkes was gay, he couldn’t exactly ask for more leave in order to help his boyfriend move into his new flat.

Life had conspired against them ever since, so this was the first opportunity they’d had to see each other since saying goodbye in Afghanistan all those weeks ago. They’d communicated via email, text message and phone calls, but it just wasn’t the same. Especially since they’d gone from seeing each other every single day for the best part of six months to not setting eyes on each other for weeks on end.

Wilkes had struggled terribly in the interim. Life had been tough enough while they were still out in the desert. After weeks and weeks of trying desperately to ignore their growing attraction, they’d finally given in to it. It had been stupid and risky, but, having quickly realised there was more to their attraction than the physical, they’d decided to carry on their relationship in secret while they were in Afghanistan, see how it went, and figure things out once Wilkes’ tour of duty was over. Balkhi had always intended to return to the UK for his studies, so they would, at least, be living in the same country.

excerpt

“You have family here? Clover East is such a small town. I don’t visit often but I think I know who all the families are around here.”

Nate was tempted to ask if Lucian knew Janette Madison, Nate’s aunt, but he was afraid it would be too soon, too abrupt.

“Nah, I don’t have family here,” he said instead. “I had just thought one of my aunts stopped by this town, but I’m not so sure myself.” There, he had said it.

“You haven’t had any news from your aunt?”

“No.”

“You mean she’s missing or something?” Lucian frowned.

“Honestly, I don’t know if she’s missing or just doesn’t want to be found.”

“Did your family ask you to find her?”

Nate played with his bottle. He wouldn’t look at Lucian. “No one asked me to locate her because there’s no one else out there. She’s the only family I have left. That’s why I wanted to find her.”

Neither spoke after that. When Nate lifted his head, he found Lucian staring blankly at a spot on the table. He wanted to ask about him instead but Nate couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth. His mind was whirling with the thoughts that until now, years after he first came to this city, he still couldn’t find Aunt Janette.

Nate,

I’m sorry about your loss and I’m very sorry I didn’t come to the funeral. I was halfway around the continent and I was quite short of money. But don’t worry about me. I met someone and he asked me to go live with him. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Clover East, a small town in Illinois? I hadn’t, before this. But I have a good feeling about this place, Nate. If you ever want to come to stay with me, you’ll be more than welcome.

“No, she’s definitely missing,” he said suddenly.

“Excuse me?” Lucian looked startled. Nate didn’t blame him.

“She sent me a letter, literally inviting me to be with her.”

“What do you mean — be with you?”

“She met a man who asked her to come to Clover East. She understood I had just lost everyone so she wanted me to stay with her. She sounded so happy at that time. There were no signs that she wanted to hide. Something bad must have happened to her.”

“Did she mention any names?”

Nate shook his head, and practically jumped when Lucian clasped a hand over his. When did he get so close?

“You’re not alone anymore. We’ll search for your aunt and we’re going to find her. Together.”

Nate gawked, first at the hand that was warm against his skin and then up to Lucian’s soft green eyes. The man was nothing like the cold, arrogant one Nate had met earlier that morning. He was almost afraid at the sudden change.

“Uh, thank you, I guess?”

“Does my grandma know about this?”

“No, I never told her.”

“Why didn’t you?”

Nate had never thought about why it had not crossed his mind to talk to Helen about it. She had never asked him why he came to the town, thus, he didn’t feel the need to mention it.

“I don’t know,” he said simply to Lucian.

Lucian pursed his lips. “I just thought it might help, you know. She’s lived here all her life. She must notice when there’s a newcomer in town, especially when the person suddenly disappears.”

“I found it strange,” Nate said slowly, “that no one seemed to hear or see anything about her. It’s like she never set foot in this place.”

“Are you sure she was really here?”

Nate said nothing and took out his cell-phone. He opened the picture albums and scrolled down until he found what he was looking for. He showed the picture to Lucian, who scrutinized it like a doctor checking on a patient on an operation table. Nate could almost see through Lucian’s eyes his aunt smiling at the camera, her long black locks blown by the wind. She posed in Clover East’s city square in front of a group of tables belonging to a café there.

“She was alone.”

“Yeah.” Nate knew exactly what Lucian was thinking. If she’d been with someone, they might have been able to recognize them.

“I wonder who took the picture.”

“She could’ve simply asked a passerby to do it.”

“You’re right.” Lucian gave him back the cell phone. “She only sent you that?”

“Yes, unfortunately.”

“So she was really here but we have no idea for how long and whom she met.”

“I was worried about her.” Nate sighed, and when he looked up, Lucian’s eyes bored into his.

“We’ll tell my grandma when she’s home and start an extensive search.”

Nate didn’t know what to say. He felt as if he was drowning in Lucian’s gaze.

“O-okay,” he said finally, after he realized Lucian had cleared his throat several times, awaiting his response.

“Good.” Lucian heaved a deep breath and stretched out, pulling his arms high above his head, and Nate was unable to keep his eyes off the scrumptious sight. “So, will you stay for dinner?”

BLURB:

As a Chroma agent, one of the elite operatives for the Spectrum Intelligence Agency, Jonah Gray was skilled enough to handle most anything that came his way. If not Jonah knew he could always rely on his handler, the clever Mr. Fox, to pull him through. Drawn to the seductive voice and commanding strength of the man on the other end of the line, Jonah wavers between his attraction to his handler and the knowledge that handlers and operatives are never supposed to meet.

Then a mission goes horribly wrong and Jonah finds himself on the wrong end of a kill order. With Jonah on the run both handler and operative are desperate to finally meet so they can face this new threat head on. Together they struggle to discover who wants Jonah dead while they finally take the opportunity to embrace the passion that has always simmered between them.
EXCERPT:

“Are your eyes closed?” Silas asked him quieter than before, softer and gentler.

“Yes Sir.” Jonah felt vulnerable in that moment, in a way he thought he’d left behind a long time ago. To distract himself a bit he let his hands come down to rest on his stomach, let his fingers slide gently over the skin there, but no lower. He didn’t have permission for that yet, after all.

“I’ve got you,” Silas promised almost as if he could tell what Jonah was feeling without even being able to see him. “You’re safe with me remember? You can relax and trust me Jonah. You can trust me to keep you safe, to tell you what to do. You can trust me with all of that. With all of you.”

“I know. I do.” Jonah fought back the swell of emotions in his chest as the mixture of devotion and affection that he always felt towards Silas threatened to burst free. Slowly, deliberately, he inhaled again. Exhaled. Inhaled, exhaled, repeated it until he felt himself even out, felt himself center.

“Good.” Silas said it roughly, voice ragged in a way that let Jonah know just how much his admittance meant to Silas. “I wish I could see you right now. You’re gorgeous Jonah, you know that don’t you? I bet you’re beautiful the way you are right now, laid back on that bed with your eyes closed, cock hard and body open. I bet you’re perfect. I’ve always thought you would be. Ever since the first time I saw you.”

Jonah’s eyes flew open in stunned surprise before he slammed them shut again. Silas’s voice was ragged but honest, deep and thick with that hot, honey drawl that Jonah loved so much.

“You’ve seen me?” The thought that Silas had seen him, knew what he looked like, and so obviously approved, made Jonah feel slightly giddy with a mixture of pride and relief.

“Oh yes.” Silas sounded amused for a moment then. “I’ve seen you many times Jonah. I am your handler after all. I’ve read your file, seen videos. Sometimes I watch you on the security cameras on missions. You’re a thing of beauty, Jonah. All lethal grace and power that draws the eye. Even when you’re off mission, even when you’re wandering around whatever city or town you decide to spend your time in, you’re still fascinating. Captivating.”

“And do I?” Jonah couldn’t help but ask. He needed to know, burned to know for certain whether or not the fascination he felt was mutual. “Do I captivate you?”

“Completely,” Silas admitted quietly and with that sort of brutal honesty in his voice that Jonah adored.

#NewRelease Spotlight: COOPER’S CONDITION, by @JaceyHolbrand #mm #mpreg #

Thank you for having me on your blog! I’m happy to be here today to let readers know about my newest release, “Cooper’s Condition”, from my series, The Agency. This series follows a couple, Evan and Seth, and their friends and co-workers as they deal with aliens and the ramifications of their encounters. There’s intrigue, lots of hunky guys, hot sex and men getting knocked up.

Yep, you read that right.

Some men get pregnant.

But you’ll have to read the stories to find out who’s affected, how and what happens. 😉 The stories can be read as standalones but for maximum reading enjoyment they should be read in order: “The Encounter”, “Breeding Seth”, “Cooper’s Condition”.

For now, here’s some information on “Cooper’s Condition”.

400X600_cooperscondition

Cooper Hanes has met the love of his life, Doctor Micha Levi, and the chemistry between them is instant and hot. Yet life takes a turn when they go on a fateful trip.

Alien abduction. Experimentation.

Cooper’s left to deal with the greatest challenge of the ordeal.

Being pregnant.

Can their lives and love survive the aftermath of the encounter and the changes that come with Cooper’s condition?

A gay erotic sci-fi story.

Excerpt

Micha’s expressions were so flirtatious and seductive, Cooper’s knees weakened for a moment, but he was able to gather his wits in spite of his raging libido causing him to go all moony eyed. He held out his hand. “I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself earlier. Cooper Hanes.”

Micha Levi. Sorry I didn’t stick around to talk, but Doctor Lee and I don’t quite see eye to eye on certain issues, and we find it’s much easier to stay out of each other’s way.”

When the doctor shook his hand, a pinch of electricity bit into Cooper’s palm. The sexual magnetism he felt between them intensified. “No problem. Totally understand.”

So, Cooper, are you new at the hospital?” Micha returned the dumbbells he’d been using to the rack. “How long have you known Doctor Lee?”

I’m just there to consult on a couple of cases, help out the athletes who got a bit busted up and need some extra special TLC. Doctor Lee was one of my instructors in college so we go way back.” When he caught Micha wrinkling his nose, he added, “Professionally speaking, that is. I’ve only known him in the educational and work environments. For the most part I work out of the offices of Triumph Physical Therapy. I usually work out at the gym near there or the one near my apartment, but I didn’t feel like driving and losing my motivation along the way.” God, Cooper, stop babbling. He hated being nervous around other men. He needed to get the doctor talking. One, to shut himself up. Two, so he could listen to the slight accent the man had. “What about you? Been at the hospital long? Do you have a special focus in Orthopedics?”

I do everything, but my interest really lies in adult spinal disorders and surgery of the spine. It’s delicate and intense work, but to see someone go from constant pain to minimal or no pain and have their quality of life improve is rewarding.”

I get that. It’s wonderful to see the positive change in a person’s life when they heal.” A woman walked by and snagged the spot near the dumbbells, but a bench became available. “I want to do some presses. Willing to spot me?”

Sure. Lead the way.”

Micha stood at the head of the bench and placed his hands out toward the bar but didn’t touch it. Cooper grasped the metal pole with fifty pounds worth of weight on either end and lifted it up and over the supports. As he executed a set of reps, he stared at the bulge in the front of Micha’s gym shorts.

The doctor’s cock… So close yet still so far away.

With a small sigh disguised in an exhale of exertion, he wondered how he would approach the subject of his and Micha’s sexual preferences, then mentally kicked himself. It wasn’t like this was his first go-round in the dating game. He had no idea why he was acting like a total noob.

Did the bulge in Micha’s shorts just get bigger?

Micha cleared his throat.

Cooper replaced the bar into the support section and gazed up at the man who was leaning forward and staring down at him.

Mr. Hanes.” His mouth twisted upwards, not in a true smile but one he probably reserved for difficult patients in which he could silently say, I’m trying to be nice but you’re being irritating. Yet, there was an erotic naughtiness to the dark grin and shadow cast over his eyes. “Are you gay?” Micha’s low voice rolled with a beautiful Arabic tone.

He swallowed hard and made sure to meet Micha’s gaze full on. “Yes. You?”

Yes.”

A sudden sense of calm and ease filled Cooper, replacing the anxiety and filling him with a burst of confidence. Emboldened, he decided to be direct and very honest, feeling if he were to have a relationship with a doctor, this would be the best tactic to use. “Good.
