Happy Hump Day!!
Today I’m joining my friend Sandra Bunino for her blog hop of Mid-Week Teases! Just click a name and hop over to their blog for a yummy tease from one of their books!
Today I’m teasing from my first novel, VEXED.
Kena’s just been rescued from the green dumpster of death by Luc and he nursed her injuries and then made her some dinner.
“So, are you new to the area?” The question shot out of my mouth before I caught myself.
“Yes and no.” He shrugged. “Some of my family live around here, but I just moved. I’ve visited a few times, though.”
Releasing the tension in his body, he eased himself closer to me. His cologne hit my nostrils, sending a voracious surge of heat through every inch of me. He smelled edible. Fresh, manly and sporty, yet oddly like warm homemade cookies.
I jerked back and cocked my head. Cookies?
“Something wrong?” he asked.
I shook my head. “No—just—no. I’m good.”
Why does he smell like cookies?
My mind raced with thoughts of licking melted chocolate chips off his thick biceps. Heat blazed over my cheeks.
“You sure? You’re looking flushed.” A look of concern draped his face.
My heart sped to a hum as my mind sabotaged me with more thoughts of him, this time with a lot less clothing involved. I ached to know the feeling of his lips on mine. I ached for him in places I didn’t know I could.
The hairs on my arms prickled to attention waiting for the goosebumps that followed. Tingles shimmied their way straight through to my core. A wave of energy surged through my body, exploding into a series of tremors in my nether regions. Through increasingly ragged breaths, I clasped my hands to my chest.
Blinking several times, I scanned the room with only my eyes, fearing my body would collapse if I dared to move anything else.
Did I just O?
Luc dropped to his knees in front of me and brushed a lock of hair from my face. “I’m putting you to bed. You may be running a fever. I hope you didn’t contract any communicable diseases from that dumpster.”
His eyes struck me down, so brilliant and so blue. Now I know why they had sparkled and reflected in the dark by the dumpster. I’d never seen such a color on a person before. There’s no word for such a color, so extravagant and so alluring. As he smiled they seemed to brighten more, if that was even possible.
“No, I have to wait for Sean to pick up Vin.” I gasped, taking in a much-needed breath of air. My insides twinged, continuing their relentless shudder. Another wave spiraled through me and I thought of no better way to die than via inexplicable orgasm.
A knock at the door shattered my thoughts and tethered me back to reality.
“Kena!” Sean shouted through the door as he pounded. “It’s me.”
Luc smiled. “I’ll let him in. You stay put.”
The minute he left my side, breath returned to my lungs. The air around me cooled, tickling the tiny hairs along my arms as the fever left my skin. My vajayjay stopped shouting at me and I needed new panties.
Ex-cop Kena’s life is filled with regret, beer, and Cheetos. That is, until her ghostly roomie sends her dumpster diving, leading her to a sexy stranger named Luc and a fate she’d rather not remember. As Kena’s memories resurface, so do her feelings for Luc, the man she’s secretly been in love with for the last thousand years. And he needs her for more than a stroll down memory lane.
Vodou spirits, known as Loa, have been trapped in human form, and are trying to make their way back to the spirit world. But Luc’s brother is possessed by a vengeance demon conjured at the hands of NOLA’s crime syndicate kingpin. Saving him means damning herself to a spirit prison in a loveless, arranged union with the very man she’s supposed to rescue. But not helping Luc’s brother sentences him to death, leaving New Orleans in the hands of black magick, and losing Luc forever.
